Adding components to a model is done in various ways. This section describes the following methods:

Inserting a component from a file KOMPAS-3D,

Create a component in the context of the current model,

Transforming objects of the current model into a part/local part.

Creation of mirrored and symmetrical components is described in section Adding mirrored and symmetrical components.

You can use parts and assemblies stored in the files to insert into the model.

If the component being inserted is a model version, you can replace it with another version of that model. To do this, invoke the Current version command from the component’s context menu in the Design Tree and specify the required version in the version list of the model that appears. You can also select another component version on the Parameter Toolbar when editing its properties.

After replacing a component you need to rebuild the model. More details about rebuilding the model...

When building an assembly model, you can not only add ready-made components from files, but also create them without leaving the current model, i.e. build parts and subassemblies in the context of the current model. All other components will be visible in the graphics area. They are not editable, but their elements (faces, edges, vertices, sketches, etc.) can be used in operations to create new components.

When further working with the model you can Changing the position, geometry, and parameters of its components.
