Setting up change of orientation is performed in the Changing orientationdialog fetched with the Settings — Parameters... — System — Model Editor — Changing orientation command. The dialog allows to set the parameters of display of models during change of orientation (scale) and after orientation change,, as well as select a pre-defines orientation while editing a sketch and on running operations.

Description of setting

Smoothness

The option enables displaying intermediate frames between frames depicting a model in the starting and ending positions (scales). Owing to that, change of position (scale) of a model does not look intermittent but smooth. When the Smoothness option is enabled, you can set up the number of intermediate frames by moving the "slider" between the Less and Greater Than positions. As the number of frames decreases, change of image of the model becomes less smooth but gets accelerated, and on the increase – vice versa.

Center the image

The option enables model image centering (alignment of the document window center against the center of projection of the dimensional parallelepiped of the model) during change of its orientation, including during automatic changing of orientation when a sketch and operation are created (this change occurs if the options While editing a sketch and When creating an operation are enabled accordingly).

Maintain the current window scale

The option enables saving the scale set in the graphic region of the model on change of its orientation.

If the option is disabled, then after orientation changes, including after automatic orientation change when sketches and operations are created, the model display scale is changed so that the model graphic area fully fits its bounding box – a conventional box the faces of which are parallel to the coordinate planes and run through the most distant points of the model objects (see table Rules for selection of model display scale on change of model orientation).

When editing sketch

The option enables automatic setting orientation Normal to... on creation of a new sketch or editing the existing one. On exiting the sketch mode, the model returns to the former orientation. If the When editing sketch option is disabled, then the model orientation during creation and editing the sketch does not change.

Orientation by the CS of the sketch.

The option includes (in addition to setting the orientation Normal to...) the rotation of the plane of the created/edited sketch to a position where the Y axis is directed upwards and the X axis is directed to the right. At the same time, the sketch plane normal is directed to the observer.

With the option disabled, the coordinate system of the sketch may be located in a different way (but one of axes will be definitely horizontal, and another – vertical).

The option is available if the When editing sketch option is enabled.

At Operation creation

The option enables automatic setting of the specified orientation during creation of a new morphogenetic element, a sheet solid, or a new surface. To specify orientation, expand the list and select the required row.

On exiting the operation, the current orientation of model retains. When editing operations, the model orientation does not change.

at operation creation

Selected is a scale such that in the graphic region of model its bounding box fully fits – a conventional parallelepiped whose faces are parallel to the coordinate planes and run through the most distant points of model objects.

Automatic

orientation setup Normal to... during creation of a sketch

During creation of a sketch on the coordinate plane, the scale 1.0 is set.

During creation of a sketch, on the face of a part or on an construction plane a scale is selected such that the face or plane fully fits in the graphic region of model. The dimensions of construction plane are defined by the dimensions of the rectangle that depicts it on the screen.

Having set image parameters, click OK. Click Cancelto discard all changes to the settings and exit the dialog.
