The configuration of export parameters is performed in the Parameters section on the Parameter Panel. The set of parameters is determined by the selected format.

STEP AP203, STEP AP214, STEP AP242

To configure the export parameters to the formats STEP AP203, STEP AP214, and STEP AP242, perform the following actions.

1.Select the order of exporting model objects depending on their visibility. The option Only visible objects is used for this. If you want to export only visible objects, enable the option. If the option is disabled, all model objects, both visible and hidden, will be exported.

2.Enable/disable the rendering of color of faces of solids and surfaces. To do this, use the option Display Properties. To transfer colors, enable the option. If this option is disabled, the colors of the faces of solids and surfaces will not be rendered.

3.Select the type of text to be transmitted using the option Geometric representation of text (when exporting to format STEP AP203 the option is not available on the Parameter Panel).

If this option is disabled, texts will be transferred in the form of letters, symbols, and special characters.

If the option is enabled, texts will be transmitted in the form of sets of segments combined into macro-elements.

4.You can export the specified density or mass value. To do so, you need to enable the option CMP Parameters.

If the density is specified for the model (manually or by selecting a material), its value is transferred to all STEP formats.

If the mass is specified for the model, it can only be written in STEP AP242 format. When such model is exported to other STEP formats, the CMP parameters are not recorded despite the enabled option.

More details on setting CMP...

5.If necessary, select the coordinate system for saving the model in STEP format from the list SC. The list is not available if there is only an absolute coordinate system in the model. When exporting to the format STEP AP203, the list is not displayed on the Parameter Panel.

6.You can set the property values of Author, Organization, and Comment in the respective fields. Details...

JT

To configure the parameters for export to the JT format, perform the following actions.

1.Select a unit of length for recording the coordinates of the vertices and normal vectors of triangular faces in the Length Units field.

2.Specify the method of saving the model geometry in the field Geometric Representation. The following options are available:

Triangulation – the surfaces existing in the model are transmitted in approximated form – multi-faceted surfaces with triangular faces.

Precision Geometry — existing surfaces in the model are transmitted in the format of an exact boundary description (Boundary Representation, B-Rep).

Precision Geometry and Triangulation — both representation options are transmitted during recording — exact geometry and triangulation.

3.Select the order of export for model objects depending on their visibility. The option Only visible objects is used for this. If you need to export only visible objects, enable the option. When the option is disabled, all model objects, both visible and hidden, will be exported.

4.If it is required to export the density or mass value, enable the CMP Parameters option.

5.You can enable/disable the export of all model properties except density and mass. To do this, use the Properties option. To transfer properties, enable the option. The KOMPAS-3D model properties are transformed into attributes when saved to JT document. With the option disabled, the properties will not be transferred.

6.Enable/disable the transfer of color of faces of solids and surfaces. To do this, use the Display Properties option. To transfer colors, enable the option. If this option is disabled, colors of the faces of solids and surfaces will not be transferred.

If the assembly contains inserts of the same component differing only by color, then enabling the transfer of appearance properties will result in the creation of duplicate components, which will also differ from each other only by color. If it's undesirable, disable the transfer of display properties. In this case, the colors will not be transferred, but duplicate components will not appear either.

7.If necessary, select the coordinate system to write the model in JT format from the list SK. The list is not available if there is only an absolute coordinate system in the model.

8.Configure the approximation parameters in the Approximation Precision elements group. A group of elements is present on the Parameter Panel if in the field Geometric Representation option Triangulation or Exact Geometry and Triangulation is selected.

IGES

To configure export options to IGES format, perform the following actions.

1.Specify the method of saving the model using the option Include Topology. When this option is enabled, the model will be written as a solid body; if it is disabled, the model is written as a set of surfaces.

2.If necessary, select the coordinate system for saving the model in IGES format from the list SC. The list is not available if there is only an absolute coordinate system in the model.

3.You can set the values of properties such as Author, Organization, and Comment in the respective fields. Details...

A model recorded as a solid in the IGES file can only be read by some target systems. The model, written in the form of a set of surfaces, can be read in most of them.

Before exporting a 3D model file to IGES format, determine in advance which recording method should be used so that this file can be correctly read by the target system. If the model recorded in IGES as a solid file is not readable by the target system, try writing the model again – as a set of surfaces.

STL

Perform the following to set the export parameters to the STL format:

1.Select a unit of length for recording the coordinates of the vertices and normal vectors of triangular faces in the Length Units field.

2.Set the format for writing in the Format field. It can be textual or binary.

3.If necessary, select the coordinate system for saving the model in STL format from the SC list. The list is not available if there is only an absolute coordinate system in the model.

4.Configure the approximation parameters in the group of elements Approximation Precision.

VRML

To configure export settings to VRML format, follow these steps.

1.Select a unit of length for recording the coordinates of the vertices and normal vectors of triangular faces in the Length Units field.

2.Enable/disable the transmission of color of faces of solids and surfaces. To do this, the Display Properties option is used. To transfer colors, enable the option. If this option is disabled, the colors of the faces of solids and surfaces will not be transferred.

3.If necessary, select the coordinate system for saving the model in VRML format from the list of coordinate systems. The list is not available if there is only an absolute coordinate system in the model.

4.Set approximation parameters in the group of elements Approximation precision .

C3D

Perform the following to configure the export parameters to C3D format.

1.Select the order of exporting model objects depending on their visibility. For this, use the Only visible objects option. If you need to export only visible objects, enable the MP Parameters. If the option is disabled, all model objects, both visible and hidden, will be exported.

2.Enable/disable the transmission of color of faces of solids and surfaces. To do this, the option Display Properties is used. To transfer the colors, enable the option. With this option disabled, the color of the faces of solids and surfaces will not be transferred.

3.If it is required to export the density or mass value, enable the MP Parameters option.

4.If necessary, select the coordinate system for saving the model in C3D format from the list of coordinate systems. The list is not available if there is only an absolute coordinate system in the model.

5.You can set property values such as Author, Organization, and Comment in the respective fields. Details...
