In order to transfer most objects of the required type when setting the export parameters, the corresponding options must be enabled. Polygonal objects are exported unconditionally. |
Hidden solids and components are not written to STL format, they may be or may be not written to STEP, JT and C3D formats depending on the settings; they are written to other formats as visible, i.e. the "hide" attribute is not transferred.
Solids and components excluded from the calculation are not written to the target format, i.e. they are regarded as removed from the model.
When exporting sketches, two types of lines are transmitted: axial and main. Text, designations and construction lines of sketch are not transmitted.
|
Please take the following into consideration when exporting a model to STL. If the model contains polygonal objects, obtained by transformation of solids/surfaces, and the source solids/surfaces for these objects are kept in the model, to avoid data duplication, it is recommended to hide the source solids/surfaces before performing the export or disable the transfer of solids/surfaces when configuring export parameters. |
Type of resulting objects
•Solids, surfaces, and points are transferred without changing the object type.
•Curves are transferred as follows:
•lines, arcs, broken lines and splines are transferred without changing the object type,
•curves by law, isoparametric curves, spirals (cylindrical and conical), fillet curves and connections of curves are transformed into splines,
|
If the fillet curve is an arc, it is transferred without change. |
•equidistants are transformed into curves which are similar to base curves, for example, if the base curve is a line, then the equidistant is transformed into a line, if an arc – into an arc, if a curvilinear segment of curve – into a spline.
•Dimensions are transferred as sets of space curves and texts.
•Detailing elements are transferred without changes (arrows, obliques, datum symbols at the ends of leader lines are not exported).
Other specialties
•ParaSolid XT
During export of files, the standard schema file №10004 is used.
•ParaSolid
Only solids available in the model KOMPAS-3D are written into the final file.
•STEP, C3D
The following information is written to the resultant file:
•designations, names of the product and its constituents,
•Information about the author and organization, as well as a comment (by default, values of the corresponding properties are recorded).
The density value set for the model (when exporting to any STEP or C3D formats) or the mass value (when exporting to STEP AP242 and C3D formats) may be written to the resulting file.
•Assembly components with the same source may be converted into inserts during export, each of which has its own source. This happens if it is not possible through other means to obtain in the target format a model that is identical to the source one, for example, in cases where the insertions of the same component are assigned different colors in the assembly or if they are modified by operations in the assembly (for example, a hole that passes through several components is constructed in the assembly).
