As sections of a lofted element, you can use objects that already exist in the model – sketches (sketch areas), planar 3D curves, planar faces, and their edges. You can also create sketches without interrupting the work of the command, and use them as sections.

Existing objects can be specified before starting the operation. They will be automatically selected as sections.

Section Requirements

As sections, only flat objects can be selected:

a sketch or a closed sketch area (see section Using sketches in operations),

a flat 3D curve,

edge of a flat face,

flat face.

Selected sections can be located in arbitrarily oriented planes.

Spatial segment cannot be selected as a section. If it is required for the section to have the shape of a segment, use a segment in the sketch, such as a contour on a flat face in the form of a segment, etc.

The use of curves with subordinate curve objects (projection curve, intersection curve, etc.) has specific features. Details...

Each section should consist of a single open or closed chain of objects.

You may select objects of different types as sections of the same element. However, the selected sections should be either all open or all closed.

The first and/or the last section may contain one point in a sketch instead of a set of objects. In this case, all the other sections should be closed.

Setting sections

To select existing objects as sections, specify them successively in the Design Tree or in the graphic area of the model.

Features of selecting a sketch and a sketch area:

to select a sketch, specify one of its objects in the graphic area of the model or specify the sketch itself in the Design Tree,

To select an area in the sketch, click inside the required area.

To create a sketch, click the Create Sketch button to the right of the Sections field. Will start sketch placement process, and then the system will switch to the Sketch mode for creating geometry. Perform the steps necessary to build and complete the sketch mode.

The names of the selected objects are displayed in the field Sections in the order of their instructions. The sections will be connected in the same order when performing the operation.

If a section is a sketch area, then in the field Sections, the sketch name is appended with the word Area.

You can change the order of sections. To do this, use the buttons Move Up and Move Down to the right of the field Sections.
