To determine the area of an arbitrary shape, use the Area
command.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Place the cursor on the border or inside the closed area (shape) whose area you want to measure. Measurement result will appear next to the cursor. If you want to display the resulting result in the Info Window, select the shape by clicking inside it. The shape will be highlighted, its name will appear in the Objects field on the Parameters panel, and the area value will appear in the Info Window. Specifying shapes is described in detail below.
|
To calculate area, you can only use the objects located in the current view (see section Changing view status). |
2.Set up measurement parameters. More...
3.You can measure the area of multiple shapes with a single command. To quickly view the measured values, hover the cursor over the desired shapes. To enter the measurement results into the Information Window, click within each shape one by one.
4.If you need to save or print the measurement results, use the menu commands Informational window.
5.To complete the command, click Finish
on the Parameters panel or close the Information window.

To measure the area and calculate the geometric center coordinates of a complex shape consisting of several parts and/or having holes, use the CMP Calculation of 2D Shapes. |
Shapes configuration
To measure the surface of a closed area select a point inside it. The shape to be measured will be highlighted in color. The name of the resulting shape will appear in the Objects field on the Parameter Panel, while the area of the shape will be displayed in the Information window.
In the same manner you can configure several closed areas. Names of the resulting shapes appear in the Objects field. The list of measured areas will be displayed in the Information window. At the end of the list the sum of all measured values is displayed.
To remove any shape from the list select it again or delete the name of the shape from the Objects field. The list in the field will be reindexed, and the relevant shape will be de-selected. The shape area record will be deleted from the Information window, and the sum of areas will be recalculated.
Using the elements of the Parameter Toolbar you can calculate the area of the following shapes.
•A figure formed by a set of geometric objects. To do this, click the button Design contour
on the Parameters panel. The sub process of forming contour will launch. Complete the necessary steps. Once the contour is formed, the measurement result will appear in the Information Window.
•A shape whose boundaries do not exist in the drawing. To do this, click the button Build broken line
on the Parameters panel. The sub process of designing a broken line will launch. Complete the required steps. Once the broken line is created, the measurement result will appear in the Information Window.

The areas of these figures are always included in the calculation as a whole, i.e. analysis of their relative positions is not performed. For example, if the figures intersect, their total area will be counted twice, not once. |
