When organizing network collaboration, you can set access options for subordinate files (style libraries, attribute types, layouts, etc.), and enable control over changes to subordinate files, source files of externally referenced inserts (fragments, components, etc.), and documents open for reading.

Access rights are configured in the Set access rights section of the settings dialog box.

To access the section, call the command Settings — Parameters... and in the dialog box that appears, select System — Files — Set access rights.

Setting description

Access level to

subordinate

files

The drop-down list allows you to set access rights to subordinate files. Subordinate to documents are files such as libraries of styles, layouts, attribute types, etc.

The following access level options are available:

Enable reading

Allows other workstations to only read files that are subordinate to documents that are open on this workstation. For example, if you open a drawing that uses a line style from a library, other users (on other workstations) will be able to apply styles from that library, but will not be able to modify them. In addition, they will be able to copy the file of the line style library you are using, but they will not be able to rename or delete it.
After you close a drawing that uses a library, it becomes fully accessible to other users.

Enable reading and writing
Allows other workstations to read, edit, and save files subordinate to documents that are open on this workstation.
If in the list of File modification control (see below) is selected Yes, then if another user modifies the subordinate file, you will receive a message about it.

File modification

control, min

A drop-down list to control the level of change control for shared files as well as read-only files.

If you select Yes in the list, the system will check to see if the file has been modified by any other user during your session. If the check is positive, a message prompting you to reread the file will appear on the screen (see Controlling changes to documents and files).

In addition, when you open a file that is already open on another workstation, a message will appear on the screen indicating that the file is busy. This message allows you to open the document as read-only or not to open it. Read more...

If No is selected, no control is performed.

To the right of the list is a field that allows you to enter a value for the time interval after which the system will perform change control of shared files. The default value is 1 minute. The field is available if Yes is selected in the list.

Notify when read-only files are opened

The option allows you to enable/disable the appearance of a message when opening a file in the following cases:

the file to be opened has a «read-only» attribute,

the user trying to open a file does not have permission to write or overwrite data to the file.

The message is similar to the one that appears when opening a file that is already edited by another user. Read more...

The option is available if file change control is enabled (see above). The option is disabled by default.

Displaying «Read only» access for components

This option allows you to control the display of the Read only icon in the Model Design tree for components (parts, assemblies) which source files are read-only.

By default, the display is disabled.

After completing the settings, click the dialog box Apply and close. To exit the dialog box without changing the settings, click Cancel.
