Such KOMPAS-3D operation parameters as access to the 3D modeling system, hardware acceleration level and parallel processing of views are set in the System management section of the setting dialog box. To access the section, call the Settings — Parameters...
command and in the dialog box that appears, select System — General — System control.

Automatically obtain a license to work with KOMPAS-3D |
This option disables/enables automatic obtaining of a license to work with the 3D design system when launching KOMPAS-3D. |

The drop-down list allows you to select the option of drawing the document on the screen. Drawing option — extent to which KOMPAS-3D utilizes the capabilities of the video card to create an image of the model on the screen. By default, the Auto detect line is selected in the list. This means that the rendering option is determined automatically depending on the capabilities of the video card. If necessary, you can manually select one of the following options: •Enhanced — maximum rendering acceleration. Use it if your graphic card supports OpenGL 4.5 or higher and has more than 2 GB of video memory. •Base — moderate rendering acceleration. Use this if your graphics card supports OpenGL 2.0 to 4.5. •Compatible — slow rendering speed (at the level of KOMPAS-3D version 17 and earlier). Use it if your graphic card supports OpenGL up to 2.0. •Without hardware acceleration — no rendering acceleration; in addition, this option is functionally limited: it makes it impossible to smooth the image, display textures, reduces the quality of realistic transparency, cancels some lighting effects of the model. When manually setting the rendering option, it is recommended to select one of the options that use hardware acceleration: Enhanced, Base, or Compatible. The No hardware acceleration option should only be selected if the hardware-accelerated options cannot be utilized or are running with problems on a particular hardware and software configuration. Smoothing quality |
The drop-down list allows you to select the level of smoothing of the models on the screen. The following options are available: •Low, •Average, •High, •No smoothening. Note that using antialiasing can reduce rendering speed: the higher the image quality, the greater the load on the graphic card. |

Display the interface using the GPU |
Option that controls hardware acceleration of interface rendering KOMPAS-3D. Disabling the option improves stability KOMPAS-3D on workstations with outdated hardware and software configuration or if there are problems with rendering of interface elements (dialogs, windows, etc.). |

Creating and rebuilding associative views |
||
Parallel processing |
The drop-down list allows you to select an option for processing associative views.. •Disabled — associative species are processed one after the other. •Reduced priority — the priority of the processes of creating and rearranging views is lowered. This feature allows to maintain comfort of work in other applications during view processing, but at high system load the speed of view creation and rearrangement may decrease. •With normal priority — simultaneous creation and rebuilding of several associative views is available. |
|
|
Additional parallel processing does not apply to cuts/sections, arrow views, local views and leader element. They can only be rebuilt after their reference views have been rebuilt. |
|
|
It is recommended to enable parallel processing if the computer is equipped with at least 8 GB of RAM and a multi-core processor. Otherwise, enabling parallel processing may result in slower work with associative views. In addition, you should keep in mind that the more complex the projected model, the more RAM is required to work with it. Therefore, sometimes enabling parallel processing may have a negative effect even if you have 8 or more gigabytes of RAM. In this case, disable parallel processing. |
|
Autosave before processing |
The option enables automatic saving of documents before creating or rebuilding associative views. Autosave is performed regardless of whether it is enabled by default or not, and only for those documents that have changed since the last save or autosave. It is recommended to enable the Autosave option before processing, because autosave is not performed during associative views processing. |
|
Load data from the model when working in associative drawings |
This option allows you to load data from the source model of associative drawing views. The model itself is loaded in the background. The loading is performed when opening an associative drawing or when creating an associative view of a model that is not yet loaded (e.g. if a view of another model is created in the drawing).
