Importing a model |

In KOMPAS-3D it is possible to read models from exchange and proprietary formats (the list of formats is given in section Import and export of models).
The result of importing a part is one new file — part KOMPAS-3D. After the import is complete, this file is opened in the window KOMPAS-3D, its tab becomes the current tab.
The result of importing an assembly can be:
•a single assembly model file, where all components are stored as local models; when opened, its tab becomes the current one,
•multiple files — main assembly and components of the main assembly (subassemblies and parts); once opened, the main assembly tab becomes the current one.
The import option for assembly components is selected when configuring the import parameters.
Peculiarities of importing model objects
Procedure
1.Call the command Open...

2.In the File type: list of the dialog box that appears, select the required format.
3.Specify the file to be imported in the dialog box.
4.For an AutoCAD format file (*.dxf, *.dwg), specify the type of document to open by enabling the Read to model option on the right side of the dialog box.
No additional actions are required for files in other formats.
5.Start the import process by clicking the Open button.
For some formats, the Open button contains a menu with the Open and Open with options commands.....
•The Open command allows you to import a model without changing import parameters. Calling this command is equal to pressing the Open button itself.
•The Open with parameters... command . command allows to set up parameters of model import. After calling this command the Import parameters settings dialog box appears on the screen.
Make the necessary settings and click the Import dialog button or the Start reading button (for DXF and DWG formats).).

After clicking the Open button, calling the Open command or confirming the start of import in the parameter settings dialog box, the import process of the selected file is started. After the import is completed, the created model KOMPAS-3D is loaded for editing.
For some formats, additional steps are required after starting the import process:
