Selecting curves, edges, and faces: general Information
When working in various processes, it may be necessary to select curves and/or edges that form a connected set (chain). You can select either individual links in the chain or a chain consisting of several links that satisfy a specific condition.
The following options are available for selecting curves and edges in the graphics area:
Single curves and edges,
Connected curves and edges,
Tangent curves and edges.
The selected condition appears on the Quick Access Panel as a button with a corresponding icon on a dark background. To change the condition, click the icon
next to the button and select the desired condition from the menu that appears.

The menu for selecting curves and edges appears on the Quick Access Toolbar only if multiple consecutively connected curves or edges are available for the specified reference object. For example, the trajectory of a section Element by path may consist of several curves. If a multi-line recorder for the trajectory task is active, the Quick Access Panel displays a menu of conditions for selecting curves and edges (one of the conditions is active). The cross-section of an element along a trajectory can only be a single curve; therefore, when switching to the single-line cross-section definition tool, the menu for selecting curves and edges is hidden. The set of commands in the menu depends on the selection of the current reference object. |
The selection criteria for curves and edges are set for the current recorder in the current operation and are retained for all subsequent operations performed using the same command. If a command specifies multiple objects of the same type and uses different registers for this purpose (for example, when defining curves to construct a ruled surface by two curves), then the selected condition applies to all of these registers.
Depending on the condition set, the following options may be selected for a single specification:
•condition Single curves and edges
— one curve/edge;
•The name of the selected object is displayed in the active logger;
•Any other condition: multiple curves or edges that form a chain (the links in the chain satisfy the specified condition);
in most cases, the selected objects are combined into a set; the set name is displayed in the active register. More about curve and edge sets...

When selecting a chain of objects in certain processes—such as copying, projecting onto a sketch, or creating a surface from a curve network—no sets are created. The selected objects are added to the clipboard individually. |
|
When objects are selected using a selection frame, the condition set in the Quick Access Toolbar is ignored. Objects are selected according to the selection frame rules. |
In some commands, you can select parts of curves or edges: if the Select parts of curves
button is selected in the Quick Access Toolbar, then when a curve or edge intersects or touches another curve or edge, the selection includes only the part of the curve or edge up to the first intersection point, rather than the entire curve or edge.

The handling of intersections/tangencies of main lines in the sketch is further affected by the option Select sketch curves with account of intersections of the setting dialog box. |
