The Product Composition panel in the Variants mode allows you to perform various actions on the model's variants. To do this, use the context menu commands in the variant column header (which contains the variant number).
The following commands are available:
•Add version
— allows you to add a new version of the model.
After the command is executed, the process of creating the instance begins.
The default variant is the one from whose context menu the command was invoked.
The created instance appears on the Product Assembly Panel.
•Model number — allows you to change the number of the selected version. You can also change the version number in the designation task pane; see below.
•Version properties — allows you to edit the model's version properties.
After the command is executed, the process of changing the properties begins.
•Make current — sets the selected version as the current one.
•Delete version
(not available for the main model) — allows you to delete a version from the model.
Editing the version designation
In the variant mode, you can edit the variant designation. To do this, use the designation task pane. To display the pane, click the icon
in the column header for the version (which contains the version number). The panel includes fields for entering the base part of the designation, the separator, and the version number.
When creating a version, the base part of the designation is carried over from the original variant. The variant number is generated automatically, according to the settings.
You can change the base part of the version designation. These changes will be carried over to some other versions. The variant number can be changed manually, but it must be unique within the document.
