Imported curve

Scroll

You can use the following file formats to import 3D curves into a KOMPAS-3D model file:

A file with the extension igs, step or stp, jt — the curves contained in this file will be inserted into the current model,

data file A curve will be plotted in the current model according to the coordinates specified in a data file with the xls, ods, txt or csv extension.

To import, use the command Imported curve... .

Step-by-step instructions

After invoking the command, a standard Select a file to open dialog box appears on the screen.

Open the file you need.

A file with the igs, jt, step or stp extension is analyzed for the presence of 3D curves. If the file contains spatial curves, these curves are inserted into the model.

If there are no 3D curves in the file, a pop-up message is displayed, and the file selection dialog box remains active.

If the source file contains curves joined in a chain, a prompt to merge the curves will be displayed when reading the file. If you agree, all the suitable curves will be merged into a single curve.

After the import is complete, the imported curve(s) appear in the graphic area, and icon(s) of the imported curves appear in the Design Tree.
Imported curves have no history. Import of curves from files with the igs, jt, step or stp extension has the specialties described in the section Notes on importing model objects.

The imported curve(s) use the current coordinate system, which may be absolute or local (to learn about selecting a coordinate system, see section Current Coordinate System. Selection of the Current Coordinate System).

If the imported curve uses the local coordinate system (rather than the absolute coordinate system) then you can change the position of the imported curve in the model by changing the position of the local coordinate system relative to the absolute coordinate system.

For more details on coordinate systems, see Section Local coordinate systems.
