Formatting marks – tabulation symbols, a space character, and the paragraph end marker. They are not printed and are used for text management.

The tabulation symbol is inserted into the text on pressing the <Tab> key.

The space symbol – a point in the midpoint of row height that appears on pressing the space key.

Paragraph end marker – a special symbol somehow similar to a note sign. It is inserted into the text on pressing the <Enter> key and denotes the end of an input paragraph. Further text entry will be performed in a new paragraph.

To manage display of service symbols and special characters, use the Display Formatting Symbols .

The formatting marks are displayed in color – bright pink, by default. Empty sign spaces for indexes, numerators and denominators fractions Are displayed in the form of color fields, by default – gray. They are visible if the display of formatting marks is enabled.

The color of display of formatting marks and sign spaces for indexes and fractions can be set in the KOMPAS.ini file. For that, the [Colours] section is used. The following keys must be represented in it:

•FormattingCharactersColour – controls the color of special characters,

•EmptySignPlaceColour – controls the color of sign spaces for indexes and fractions.

The value of each key is color parameters in one of the following formats:

•"255 127 39"

•"255, 127, 39" (a space after the comma is mandatory)

•"0x00 0xFF 0xFF"

•"0x00, 0xFF, 0xFF" (a space after the comma is mandatory)

Example:

Binding of words and word parts

Documents often look better if certain words or paragraphs are displayed on the page together (before or after breaks). For that, the non-breaking space and non-breaking hyphen are used.

To insert of a non-breaking space, the Non-breaking space command.

Insertion of a non-breaking hyphen is performed using the Non-breaking hyphen command.

When the display of formatting marks is enabled, the non-breaking space symbol (it looks like a degree symbol) and the hyphen are displayed in bright pink by default.
