Recalculate model dimensions mode – a special mode of working with a KOMPAS-3D model. This mode is used to recalculate dimensions of model objects and components based on assigned tolerances (general and individual, see section Tolerances). Calculation of the model dimensions is performed as per the current recalculation.

KOMPAS-3D provides three system options for recalculating dimensions: To middle part of the tolerance field, by upper limit and by lower limit. It is also possible to create user-defined recalculations of dimensions. See section System and user-defined recalculations of dimensions.

On enabling the recalculation mode, the following occurs:

the values of variables corresponding to the model dimensions to which tolerances are assigned change according to the parameters of selected recalculation;

recalculated values of variables are displayed on the Variables toolbar in the Recalculated valuecolumn;

the model is rearranged with new values of variables.

For example, for transformation of model the system recalculation of dimensions by the upper limit is used. With the mode enabled, all the dimensions participating in recalculation take the maximum extreme values. The model is rearranged with the new dimensions taken into account.

Since recalculation of dimensions of a model with the use of tolerances is in fact is a rearrangement of model with new values of variables, the following should be kept in mind that:

the dimensions not affecting the model (information or not having a variable) do not change even if they have a tolerance;

for correct rearrangement, the model must be correctly parametrized (for example, the sketch should be fully determined, etc.).

In the recalculation mode, settings of general tolerance made and saved in the component files will be applied to model components. If in some component the use of general tolerance is disabled, then in the recalculation mode the general tolerances to dimensions of such component are not applied.

Recalculation management is conducted in Document Manager (see section Recalculation management).

To enable the model dimensions recalculation mode, run the Recalculate with Tolerances command from the menu Management – Dimensions Recalculation.

The Recalculate based on tolerances command is unavailable on editing a component "in situ".

For more details on working in the mode, see section Enabling the mode of recalculating dimensions and working in it.

Using the FileSave As... command, the recalculated model can be saved in a different format.

If a model which is in the recalculation mode is closed with saving, then upon subsequent opening of this model its status will be the same as it was on closing – the recalculation mode is enabled, the sizes of model conforms to the current recalculation.

After an exiting the recalculation mode, the model returns to that status in which it was at the time of enabling the mode.
