KOMPAS-3D allows to assign tolerances to the dimensions of a sketch, as well as the values of numerical parameters of operation, for which the following conditions are met:
•the parameter is expressed in linear or angular values;
•the parameter variable is not informational.
It is possible to assign general and individual tolerances.
Assignment of a tolerance is performed automatically according to the settings. This setting defines:
•objects, whose dimensions and parameters should have a tolerance;
•the value of an individual tolerance for dimensions of different types: linear, angular, diametrical, radial; dimensions for which the value of individual tolerance is not set have a general tolerance.
The conditions for using a general tolerance in a model and its setup are described in section General tolerances.
If necessary, during object creation or editing users can manually enable/disable a tolerance for a dimension (parameter), change individual tolerance values, change a general tolerance to an individual one and vice versa (see the section Assigning a tolerance).
The individual tolerance is displayed on the Variables toolbar, as well as in the dimensional caption of the sketch dimension and the dimension corresponding to the operation parameter (for info on dimensions of sketches and operations, see the section Dimensions of sketches and operations; for tolerances on the Variables panel, see the section Setting tolerances on the Parameters panel). General tolerances are displayed only on the Variables toolbar.

If a model requires rearrangement, then on the Variables toolbar incorrect maximum values of parameters or sizes determined by general tolerances may be displayed. For correct display of these values, rebuild the model. |
The example of displaying individual tolerances for the dimension of a sketch and for operation sizes on designing an extrusion element is represented in the figure.

Assignment of tolerances is possible only for the parameters of those operations which are created directly in the current model (for example, for the values of parameters of the cut extrusion element, mating elements, etc.). Tolerances for the values of parameters of the operations performed in a component should be assigned while working with it. |
General and individual tolerances are used in the Recalculate dimensions mode of the model.

It is possible to assign an individual tolerance to controlling and info dimensions of a sketch (with a variable and without it). However, in the mode of recalculation of model dimensions only the controlling dimensions of sketches having a variable are used. |
