Depending on the thread type, its designation is labeled using the Diameter Dimension or Leader.

The Diameter Dimension command is used for labeling designations of all threads except conical and straight pipe. The resulting designation looks like a diameter dimension labeled to the outer diameter of the thread. The base plane of the dimension is perpendicular to the thread axis, and its dimension text contains the thread designation. In the Design Tree the designation looks like a diameter dimension.

The designation of conical or straight pipe thread is placed on the leader. Therefore for its labeling the Leader command is used. The base plane of the leader is selected during its creation. In the Design Tree the resulting designation looks like a leader.

After invoking of any of these commands you should specify the object to label the designation — the cosmetic thread. Only thread of the appropriate type is available for specifying.

The designation text is generated automatically and displayed on the designation phantom in the graphic area and in the Parameters panel in the Text field. If necessary you can edit it using techniques appropriate for the command used to create the designation.

The created thread designation is added to the Design Tree. It looks like a diameter dimension or a leader, depending on what command was used to create it. Further working with the thread designation is similar to working with a diameter dimension or a leader.

If you need to set not only the thread designation but also the threat length dimension, use the Derivative dimensions.
