Shape of the conic section curve |

The shape of a conical curve is determined by how much it is elongated in the direction of the triangle vertex. To specify the shape, use the Conical section curve group of elements, located in Section of the Parameter Panel.
The method of setting the shape of the conical curve is selected using the Method to define the form group. The following methods are available.
The By coefficient method consists in that the shape of the conical curve in the plane of the section is defined by the parameter Coefficient k (engineering discriminant), see section Conical curve parameters).
The coefficient can be constant for each position of the section or can change according to the configured law.

The value of the coefficient should be between 0.0001 and 0.9999. |
Select the type of the function that will be used to determine the coefficient and set the parameters for the selected function type (for example, for the linear or cubic function, input the coefficient values in the initial and final positions of the section). Function type can be selected using the group of buttons.

The Minimal Stress method means automatic selection of the coefficient (engineering discriminant) for conical curves in the plane sections. In this case, the coefficient for each curve is selected so that the integral value of its curvature is minimal.
'On a curve on the surface' method
For the On a curve on the surface method, a curve is specified through which the resulting conical section surface will pass.
Select the curve in the graphic area of the model or in Design Tree. The following objects can be specified:
•3D curve (including a broken line or its segment),
•sketch line,
•edge,
•chain of the above objects in any combination.
The selected object (objects) will be displayed in the Curve on surface field on the Parameters panel.
When the specified curve intersects with the section plane, a point is formed through which the conical section curve will pass.
'Along a tangent surface' method
For the Along a tangent surface method, specify the face of the solid or surface that will be tangent to the resulting surface of the conic section.
Specify the desired face in the graphic area. The name of the selected face will appear in the Tangent surface field.
When the selected face intersects with the section plane, a curve touched by the conical section curve is created.
