Array axis |

When building an array by concentric grid, the positions of the grid plane and its center are defined by array axis – the plane is located perpendicular to the axis, and the point where axis intersects this plane is the center of the grid.
You can specify array axis in one of the following ways.
•Activate the Axis field and specify the relevant object in Design Tree or in the graphic region of the model. Name of the selected object appears in the field.
You can use any straight-line object as an array axis (see table Model object types) or a revolution surface, except for a sphere. If a revolution surface is selected, axis of this surface becomes the array axis.
•Build the axis. To start the process of building an axis, click Build Axis
button to the right of the field Axis. More details on constructing the axis...
When specifying an object as an axis for an array, note the following.
If the array axis and the base point of the base instance If the points are arranged such that a point belongs to an axis or its extension, it is not possible to determine the direction of the grid rays, as the center of the grid coincides with the base point of the base instance. In such case it is impossible to create array instances in radial direction. Setup of grid parameters for this direction will be unavailable, i.e. the array grid will contain a single circle with its center in the base point of the base instance. Instances of the radial direction array will be located on this circle.
When selecting an axis which passes through the base point of the base instance (or when selecting a base point which belongs to the axis), a message stating impossibility of copying in radial direction appears on the screen.

If you need the array to be built around the selected axis and to contain instances in radial direction, change the position of base point of the base instance. Details... |
