In KOMPAS-3D, it is possible to construct:

Axis through two points,

Axis on Plane Intersection,

Axis of Conical Surface,

Axis through Edge,

Axis through point in direction.

Axis creation commands are grouped together. While executing a group command, you can switch to execution of another one using buttons of the Parameter Toolbar header.

If in Axis through two points command a point object was selected, then during the transition to the Axis through point in direction command (and vice versa) this object remains selected.

Axis through two points

A construction axis passing through the selected point objects is built using the Axis through two points .

Step-by-step instructions

Specify two point objects.

An axis that passes through the specified objects will be automatically created.

If the model does not have the desired objects, build the points by clicking Build a point button to the right of the field Point 1 (Point 2). Will start subprocess of plotting a point. After the creation of the object is completed, the system will return to the axis building process.

To complete operation of the command, click the Finish .

Axis on Plane Intersection

A construction axis, which is a line of intersection of two flat objects (or their extensions), is built using the Axis on Plane Intersection .

Step-by-step instructions

Specify two flat objects at the intersection of which you want to build an axis.

The axis will be created automatically.

To complete operation of the command, click the Finish .

Axis of Conical Surface

A construction axis, which is the axis of the revolution surface, is built using the Axis of the conical surface .

Step-by-step instructions

Pick a rotation surface in the graphics area.

The axis of the specified surface will be created automatically.

To complete operation of the command, click the Finish .

Axis through Edge

A construction axis passing through a straight-line object is built using the Axis Through Edge .

Step-by-step instructions

Specify any straight-line object, besides the coordinate/auxiliary axis or centerline.

An axis that passes through the specified object will be automatically created.

To complete operation of the command, click Finish .

Axis through point in direction

A construction axis passing through the selected point object in direction of the selected object or vector is built using the Axis through point in direction .

Step-by-step instructions

1.Specify the point object and the guiding object. You can specify any of the model objects listed in the table below as a guiding object.

The names of the selected objects will appear in the fields Point and Guiding Object on the Parameters toolbar.

The phantom of the axis being created will appear in the graphics area.

If the required objects do not exist in the model, build them without exiting the command.

To create a point, click Construct a point on the right side of the field Point of the Parameter Panel. Will start subprocess of plotting a point.

To create a vector defining the direction of the axis, click the Create vector to the right of the Guiding object field. Will start subprocess of vector construction.

2.In some cases (see the table below), you can choose the direction of the axis being created: along the guiding object or perpendicular to it. To do this, press the relevant button in Orientation group.

Parallel to object,

Perpendicular to object.

3.To finish building the axis, click Create an object .

4.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .

Guiding Objects

Object

Direction specified by the object

Straight-line Object

A straight line, parallel or perpendicular to the object.

To select the desired direction of the axis you create, use the group of switches Orientation.

Planar Object

A straight line, parallel or perpendicular to the object.

Plane curve:

arc;

circle;

sketch line.

A straight line, perpendicular to the plane of the curve.

A 3D curve (must contain the selected point object)

A straight line directed along a tangent vector or a principal normal vector.

To select the desired direction of the axis you create, use the Orientation switch group.

A revolution surface, except for a sphere

A straight line parallel or perpendicular to the rotation axis.

To select the desired direction of the axis you create, use the switch group Orientation.

A free-form surface (must contain the specified point object), including a sphere

A straight line parallel or perpendicular to the object at the specified point.
