Spline by objects |

You can build a spline repeating the shape of an object (or several objects) of the model. You can use the following objects as base objects:
•3D curves,
•edges of solids and surfaces,
•sketch contours.
If the base objects form a chain and are smoothly joined, a single spline is created.
If the source objects do not form a chain or are not smoothly joined, multiple splines are created.
Use the Spline by objects
command to build a spline repeating the shape of an object.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select one or more objects in the graphic area to build the spline. You can also define 3D curves in the Design tree of the model. Names of the selected objects are displayed in the Objects field of the Parameter panel. A phantom of the spline is displayed in the graphic area.
Below the field Objects is the option Select tangent objects. This option is used to automatically select the smoothly mated objects that constitute a chain:
•If the option is enabled, then after specifying one of the objects, all other curves of the chain will be defined automatically,
•If the option is disabled, then all the objects that form the chain are specified one by one.
2.Select the result of building the spline using the option Scatter:
•Disabling the option means that after the spline building is complete, it will be associatively linked to its base object.
•Enabling the option means that the spline will not be associatively linked with the base objects.
|
The option Scatter is displayed only during the building process, and when editing an already created spline, it is not present. If necessary, the associative link of the spline with its original objects can be canceled after building using the Explode command (see below). |
3.It's available to select a coordinate system to place the spline. To do that, use the Coordinate system section. Details...
4.It's available to set the name, color and display parameters. The properties of the created spline will appear in the Properties section on the Parameter panel.
5.To complete creating the spline, click Create object
.
The 3D spline will appear in the graphic area; its corresponding icon will appear in the Design tree.
Spline by objects — if the Scatter option was disabled. The created splines are displayed in the element structure.
Spline by vertexes (or several separate splines) — if the Scatter option was enabled. The vertexes of the spline are displayed in its composition.
6.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
Result of spline construction by objects
After the spline is created, its base objects remain in the model.
A spline built with the Scatter option disabled retains its associative links with the objects by which it was built. Due to this connection, the spline will change according to changes in the original objects.
If necessary, the associative link of the spline with the original objects can be canceled. To do this, use the Explode command from the spline context menu in the Design tree. After you start the command, the explosion dialog box appears on the screen. You can confirm the explosion or refuse it. After the spline is destroyed, it retains its position in the model. In the Design Tree, the spline icon by objects is replaced with the spline icon (or several spline icons if there are multiple splines).
A spline to which the Explode command has been applied, as well as a spline created with the Scatter option enabled, has no links with the source objects, i.e. editing or deleting them would not influence the spline. This spline represents a spline by poles and does not differ from the spline created using the command Spline by poles. If necessary, you can change the spline type to spline by points . To do this, click the Spline by vertexes In the header of the Parameter panel.
You can undo the explosion of the associative spline by objects using the Cancel
command or by pressing the <Ctrl>+<Z> shortcut key.
It is impossible to make a spline associative if it is built with the Scatter option enabled.
