Point Between Two Points

Scroll

You can plot a point between the two specified. By vertices. The position of the point is determined by the magnitude of the offset from one vertex to another along the segment connecting the vertices. The direction of offset can also be set using a curve that passes through the specified vertices (the point will be created on the curve). The curve can be a spatial curve, a sketch line, or an edge.

To construct a point between vertices, use the Point between vertices command.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Select the first and second vertices in the graphic area or in the Design Tree. Their names will appear in the fields Point 1 and Point 2. In the graphics area, a phantom of the created point and an arrow indicating the direction of displacement from one vertex to another will appear. By default, the direction of the point offset is set along the segment connecting the vertices.

2.If required, specify the curve that sets the direction of the displacement. The name of the curve is displayed in the field Curve.

3.Set an offset numerical value from the first vertex to the second using the group of buttons Offset on the Parameter Panel:

In % of curve length: enter offset in percentage in the field % of curve length.

By segment length: enter the offset in the length measurement units in the Length field.

By central angle of the arc: enter the displacement in angle measurement units in the field Angle. (The option is available if an arc of a circle or ellipse is selected as the curve).

You can change the direction of the point offset calculation to the opposite (from the second vertex to the first) by clicking Reverse Direction button to the right of the field where the offset magnitude is specified.

In the process of plotting, you can switch between offset options. The offset value will be recalculated and displayed in the units of the selected option.

4.Advanced plotting options.

You can select a coordinate system relative to which a point will be located. To do that, use the Coordinate System section. Details...

You can change the name, color and style of the point display. To do that, use the Properties section.

5.To complete the operation, click Create Object .

A point appears in the graphic area, and its icon appears in the Construction Tree.

6.To complete operation of the command, click Finish button .

Tips

You can change the position of the created point in the graphic area by moving the defining point (see section Defining Points of Objects).

You can use the geometrical calculator.

You can assign tolerances to the values of the operation parameters expressed in linear and angular values. To do this, invoke the Tolerance command, located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the icon , displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value). More details on assigning tolerance...
