Detail view – the image of a separate limited sector on the model surface. In KOMPAS-3D, building a detail view is performed by means of image truncation in the existing associative view. This view is regarded as the reference for a detail view. Any closed line (circle, ellipse, closed Bezier curve, etc.) can be regarded as the border of truncation. This line must be created in advance and be inside the reference view (i.e., during creation of a line, the reference view must be current one).

The line that restricts the detail view must not have self-intersections.

To build a detail view, do the following actions.

1.Run the Detail view command.

2.In the reference view, specify the closed line that restricts the detail view. The contents of the reference view which are outside of the specified border will cease to be displayed in the graphic region.

Control of the detail view display

After creation of detail view, in the context menu of its reference view in the Drawing Design Tree, the Detail view command becomes available. It is used to switch between full and trimmed display of the view. The checkmark next to the command name means that trimmed display is enabled for the view. At the same time, in the Drawing Design Tree, before the view name, an icon is displayed.

If display of a detail view is disabled, then the icon in the Tree is missing, and the reference look and the line restricting the detail view are displayed in the initial status.
