Creation of filter of layers is available if in the current document the mode of grouping of layers is active (see section Group layers).

Step-by-step instructions

1.In the Document Tree, select parent object of a filter – a drawing/tile or a view (creation of a filter in a group of layers is impossible).
Selection of the parent object for a filter defines the structure of objects being filtered. If a filter is created at the document level in general, filtering will be applied to the layers of the whole document. If a filter is arranged inside a view (for a drawing), then it will be applied only to the layers of this view.

2.Invoke from the context menu the Create layer filter command (available if the mode of grouping of layers is active).
This option opens the dialog Layer filter, allowing you to specify the name of the filter and the filtering conditions.

3.If necessary, edit the default name of the filter in the Filter name field.

4.In the Conditions table, make the set of filtering conditions. Setting the filtering conditions is detailed below.

5.Click OK to close the dialog.
A new object — the layer filter — will appear in the Document tree.

You can edit the created filter if needed. To do this, run the Edit command from the filter context menu in the Document Tree and change the filtering conditions in the Layer filter dialog that appears.

Besides, the filter can be renamed or deleted. These actions are performed for a filter just like for the group.

Setting filtering criteria

Each row of the Conditions table sets one condition for filtering layers.

There may be several filtering conditions. After building the condition, a line for creation of the next condition is created automatically.
If a filter consists of several conditions, they are summed. For example, if the Status field of one condition contains the value "empty layer" , and the other has "non-empty layer" , then the filter will show both empty layers and layers containing objects.

Some fields, for example Status, Activity, Visibility, Color, contain expanded lists where you select the desired values of properties. The lists become available after selecting the condition line. The rest of fields are filled manually. At the same time, it is possible to use wildcards. In the wildcards, the "?" character replaces any one character, and the "*" replaces any quantity of any characters. To complete entry into a field, press <Enter> or click anywhere outside of this field.

On setting conditions, you can use commands of the context menu. The Clear cell command allows to delete a value in the current field of a condition. The Delete Row command allows to delete a condition entirely. The Copy row command allows to create a copy of the current line.
