Creation, renaming, deletion of layer groups and layer property groups

Scroll

The possibility to create certain groups (group of layers or group of layer properties), depends on the grouping mode enabled in the document (see section Group layers).

Creation of a group

Step-by-step instructions

1.In the Document tree, select the parent object of a new group – a drawing/tile, a view, or another group.
The choice of the parent object for a group determines its contents. If the group is created at the entire document level, you can include any layer from the document into this group. If you create a group within a view (for a drawing), it may contain only layers of this view.

2.Call the Create layer group or Create property group command from the context menu. Presence of a command is determined by the group settings of layers in a document.

Note that the document cannot contain both layer groups and layer property groups at the same time (see section Basics of working with layer sets).

After running the command, a new object – the group – appears in the structure of its parent object.

A property group may be empty or contain layers of the parent object (that depends on whether inheritance of structure of the parent object is enabled at setting up grouping of layers).

3.Place or add the desired layers to the group. To that end, select them and drag to the icon of the created group with the mouse. In this case, the layers will not be deleted from their original location.
If under the cursor there is an object into which it is impossible to include a selected layer (layers), then the background under the name of this object turns pink, and if it is possible, then the background turns green, and before the name the "+" sign appears.

4.If a group of properties of layers was created, set to the layers the properties which will be assigned to them after application of a group, and mark the layer which will become current after application of the group. Details...

Additional ways to create groups:

Before running the group creation command, do not select its parent object, but layers which should be part thereof. The position of a group depends on the place where the selected layers are: for example, if all of them belong to one view, then the group will be found inside it.

Drag one layer onto another (without invoking a command for creating a group). A group will be created from these layers. As in the previous method, the position of a group depends on the position of layers.

Renaming a group

To change the name of an existing group, select it in the Document tree and press <F2> or invoke the Rename command from the context menu.

The group name will be available for editing.

Deleting a group

To delete a group, select it in the Document tree and press the <Delete> or invoke the Delete command from the context menu.
