Local coordinate systems: General information

When creating a local coordinate system, its position and orientation are set relative to its own coordinate system. The own coordinate system for the LCS is the absolute coordinate system of the model or the current coordinate system, depending on LCS Settings.
To create a local coordinate system, use the Local coordinate system command.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Set the LCS position in the Position group in the main section of the Parameter Panel. You can use the following methods:

Manual specifying.

Enter the coordinates or define a point object.

Plotting a point. To do this, click the Plot Point button to the right of the Snap Point field.

After calling the command, the graphic area of the model displays a base element , allowing you to manually change the LCS position. This element coincides with the phantom of the created LCS.

2.Specify the LCS orientation in the Orientation group in the main section of the Parameter Panel. Select an option to specify the orientation in the Orientation method group and set the parameters corresponding to the selected method. The following methods are available.

Axes directions — specify guiding objects or build vectors for axes.

Euler angles — rotation of the LCS relative to its own coordinate system by specifying the Euler angles.

By object — by the object whose properties allow you to uniquely determine the orientation of the LCS.

3.To complete building, click Create object .

The created LCS will appear in the graphic area of the model and its icon — in the Design Tree.

If when configuring LCS, the When creating an LCS, assign it to the current CS option is enabled, then the created LCS will become current.

4.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .
