Local coordinate systems: general information

To create a local coordinate system by object, use the Local coordinate system by object command.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Specify the object whose parameters allow you to uniquely determine the position and orientation of the LCS.

The position of the LCS origin and directions of its axes set by the selected objects are provided in table Objects for creating LCS.

After specifying an object in the graphical area of the model, a phantom LCS appears, located according to its parameters, and the name of this object is displayed in the Object field on the Parameter Panel.

2.If a flat face is indicated as the object, determine the position of the center of mass of the face using the Only outer contour option.

3.To complete the build, click Create object .

The created LCS will appear in the graphic area of the model, and its icon will be displayed in the Design Tree.

If when configuring LCS, the When creating LCS assign it as current CS option is enabled, then the created LCS will become current.

4.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .

Tips

You can set linear and angular parameters using the geometrical calculator.

You may assign tolerances, specified in linear or angular units, to operation parameter values. To do this, invoke the Tolerance command from the desired parameter menu, or click the icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value).
