Use the Surface Split command to split a surface.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Define the surface being split: For this purpose select the face or several faces of a single solid/surface in the graphic area. The names of faces are displayed in the Surface faces field on the Parameter Panel.
If you want to split all the faces of a solid or surface, select the solid/surface. In this case, the name of the selected solid/surface will appear in the field Surface faces. The notes on selecting a solid/surface as a splitting object are the same as for the surface trimming operation. Details...

2.Define the sectioning object (set of objects). To do this, click in the Sectioning object field on the Parameters Panel and specify the object in the graphic area or in the Design Tree of the model. The name of the object will appear in the field Sectioning object.

Requirements to objects of splitting operation...

If you need to split a surface by the isoperimetric curve, you can plot this curve without exiting the splitting process. To do so, click Design Isoparm Curve to the right of the Sectioning object field. The operation of creating an isoparametric curve on surfacewill start. If the surface being split consists of just one face then it’s selected automatically. If is consists of several faces, please select the face, to place the curve. After you plot the curve, the software returns to the splitting operation, the new curve appears in the Design tree and is automatically selected as the sectioning object.

The phantoms of the edges resulting from the splitting operation are displayed in the graphic area.

3.If you have selected a sketch as the sectioning object, please select the movement direction of the sketch to form the sectioning surface. To do that, press the corresponding button in the Projection Direction group:

Both Directions,

Forward direction,

Reverse direction.

If you've selected the movement of the sketch in forward or reverse direction, this direction is indicated using an arrow on the phantom in the graphic area.

All the contours of the selected sketch are participating in the splitting. You cannot use only selected contours.

4.You can rename the split operation in the Properties section.

5.To complete the operation, click Create object .

The selected faces are split into several faces, and the icon of the surface splitting operation appears in the Design tree.

6.To complete operation of the command, click Finish .
