Plotting a surface by point layer |
Scroll |
To plot a surface by a point layer, use the Surface by point layer
command.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select the type of the new surface using the corresponding button in the Surface Type group on the Parameter Panel.
Spline by points - spline surface passes directly through the points of the grid;
Spline by Poles - spline surface passes at a certain distance from the mesh points. This distance is determined by the system and cannot be changed.
Faceted surface - the surface passes directly through the grid points. Each face of a surface has triangular shape.
2.Select the method of point grid recognition using the buttons in the Method group on the Parameter Panel:
Automatically,
In the CS plane,
Within screen plane.
The method of point grid recognition determines the shape of the surface. More details on recognizing the grid of points...
3.Set the points of the surface. Point coincidence is not permitted. More details on setting points...
The number of set points and the order of the surface are displayed in the corresponding fields of the Surface Parameters group. The parameters of the points are displayed in the table in the Point Coordinates group of controls. The numbering of the points corresponds to the sequence of creation. After you set the third point, a phantom of the surface will appear in the graphic area.
4.You can change the order of the new surface by setting its value in the Order field of the Surface Parameters group. This field is available for entering values if the number of points is five or more. More details on the order of spline curves and surfaces...
5.You can change the position of the defined points. For more details on the surface editing mode...
6.If you need to check a surface for self–intersections, please enable the Self-intersection check setting. If any self–intersections are detected, a corresponding message will appear on the screen. More details on surface self-intersection...
|
If the surface type is polyhedron, then the field Order an the Self-intersection check option will be unavailable. |
7.You can select a coordinate system to place the surface by point layer. To do that, use the Coordinate System section. Details...
8.You cat set the name of the surface by point layer and its display parameters using the controls in the Properties section on the Parameter Panel. Managing color and optical properties of objects...
9.To complete the operation, click Create object
.
The surface by point layer will be displayed in the graphic area; its icon
in the Feature Tree.
10.To complete operation of the command, click Finish
.
