Design a surface by grid of points |
Scroll |
To plot a surface by a grid of points, use the Surface by point grid
command.
Step-by-step instructions
1.Select type of the new surface using the corresponding button in the Type group on the Parameter Panel.
Surface by points - the surface by points directly passes through the grid points;
Surface by poles - the surface by poles passes at a certain distance from the grid points, which is determined by their weight. The default weight of all points is 1. Details about the weight of the points...
2.Select the points to plot a surface. More details on point assignment...
Parameters of points are displayed in the table in the Grid Point Coordinates group of elements on the Parameter Panel.
The phantom of the grid and the arrows of directions U and V are displayed in the phantom of the new surface. The number of the points and the order of the surface by directions U and V are displayed in the corresponding fields of the Surface Parameters.
3.You can change the order of the created surface by setting the order along direction U, direction V, or along both directions. For this, enter the desired value in the Order by U (Order by V) field of the Surface parameters element group. The field is available for inputting values if the number of points in the corresponding direction is four or more.

4.You can close the surface along the direction U, or along the direction V, or along both directions, using the Close along U (Close along V) setting in the Surface parameters group of controls. A surface may be closed in one or another direction if the number of points in this direction is three or more.
5.You can change the position of the defined points. To do that, switch to the surface editing mode. For more details on editing mode...
6.If you need to check a surface for self–intersections, please enable the Self-intersection check option. If any self–intersections are detected, a corresponding message will appear on the screen. More details on surface self-intersection...
7.You can select a coordinate system to place the surface by grid of points. To do that, use the Coordinate System section. Details...
8.You cat set the name of the surface by grid of points and its display parameters using the controls in the Properties section on the Parameter Panel. Management of the color and optical properties of objects...
9.To complete the operation, click Create object
.
The surface by point grid will be displayed in the graphic area; its icon
.
10.To complete the command, click the Finish
button.
