Selecting objects using zones |
Scroll |
Zones can be used to select:
•Objects built directly in the model (solids, surfaces, curves, etc.). Objects are checked for belonging to a zone or for intersection with a zone.
•Components. It is not the objects of the components that are checked for belonging to a zone or to an intersection with a zone, but a bounding box of the component. Thus, a whole component can be selected with a zone, but not its separate object. The bounding box is built in the absolute coordinate system of the component by the objects included in the List of objects, determining zone dimensions. If the lists of objects for the model and the component are different, the dimensions of the component are determined by the matching objects of the lists.
Selection of components by the zone can be made as follows:
•Only at the first level of the current document: only the entire component of the first level can be selected, i.e. together with all the objects included in it; selection of components of the second level and further on (i.e. components included in components, etc.) separately is impossible.
•At all levels of the current document: a component of any level can be selected.
The method of selecting objects using a zone, both at the first document level or at all levels, depends on the System settings.
The following commands are provided for selection objects using zones:
Select inside zone — objects that lie inside the zone, including objects touching the zone borders, are selected.
Select outside zone — selects all objects which lie outside the zone, including objects that touch the zone borders.
Select as cutting zone — objects located inside the zone as well as objects intersecting the zone border are selected.
The required zone can be selected before calling the command. If no zones were selected before calling the command, then the command will apply to the current zone.
For convenience, enable Display zones.

The command called from the context menu of any of the selected objects applies to all selected objects. For example, if you invoke the Load Modes command and specify a certain load type, it will be applied to the entire group of objects.
