Fix Poles |
Scroll |
When editing a face, you may want some poles of the grid to remain stationary, i. e. fixed. Fixed poles do not change their position when you move poles.
The Fix Poles command
is used to fix the poles.
The controls for fixing poles will appear on the Parameter Panel. The following fixing methods are available:
•fixing poles which ensure stability of the shape and position of face edges,
•fixing poles in an arbitrary way.
You can fix poles using different methods at the same time.
A fixed pole is marked with the icon
in the graphic area. When rows of poles are selected to be fixed, the segments of these rows are highlighted. The edges of the face for which the shape and position are fixed are also highlighted.
To complete the pole fixation, click the Create Object button
.
If you want to discard fixation, click Finish
.
Fixing poles which ensure stability of the shape and position of face edges
When you edit a face, it may be required to keep the shape and position of some (or all) its edges intact. To do this, you can fix the grid poles which impact the shape and position of these edges.
To fix them, activate the Fix Edges field and click all the required edges using the mouse.
The selected edges will be highlighted in the graphic area, and the list of them will be displayed in the Fix Edges field. All the poles of the grid which influence the shape and position of these edges are automatically fixed.
To unfix the poles ensuring stability of the shape and position of one of the selected edges, click this edge again or delete the name of the edge from the list.
Fixing poles in an arbitrary way
You can fix arbitrary poles of the grid. To do this, activate the Fix Poles field and select the poles or rows of poles to be fixed.
•To select one pole, move the mouse cursor towards it. When the icon of a vertex
will appear next to the cursor, click the mouse button. A pole can be located in any row of the grid, including its border.
•To select a row of poles, move the mouse cursor towards a segment of this row. When the 3D curve symbol
appears next to the cursor, click the mouse button.
The selected poles and all the poles of selected rows will be automatically fixed. The list of fixed poles will appear in the Fix Poles field.
To unfix a pole (a row of poles), click it again. You can also cancel fixation by deleting the number of the pole from the list.
