Update of imported component

Scroll

To transfer changes from the source (interchange file format) to the imported component, call the Update imported component command from the component's context menu.

If enabled for the component Tracking source changes, the Update Imported Component command is present in the menu only if there are changes.

After calling the update command, the model is read from the source file again.

The geometry present in the component is replaced by the one obtained from the file. In this case, all operations and matings created with the use of this component are saved in the assembly, but they can be modified.

If the set of faces/edges in a component changes, take the following into account.

Some operations in the assembly may lose reference objects after the update. Such operations become erroneous.

If the mating uses a face/edge that is subsequently deleted, after the update, another face/edge within the component will be used in the mating. If this face/edge is suitable for mating, it remains functional, if not – an error appears on mating. If there are no edges/faces for replacement in the component, the mate loses its reference object and is marked as invalid.

When a component is updated, not only the geometry, but also the properties specified in the source are transferred, except those whose values have been changed in the assembly. For example, if the designation and name are specified for a component in the assembly, they do not change when the component is updated.

If a model contains several inserts the source of which is the same model, running the update command for one of them will update all the inserts that retain the link with the source.

You can update several imported components with different sources in a single command call, if needed. To do this, first select all the necessary components.

After update is completed, the model needs to be rebuild a Model .
