Corner smoothening and passing

When filleting, you can match faces in two ways: Smoothening and Path. They are configured in the Additional parameters section.

The corner smoothening method is selected using buttons in the Smoothening group. The corner passing method is selected in the Passing group.

Group Bypass is available if the edge is rounded using the method By Circular Arc.

Examples of construction results are listed in the tables.

Maintaining the flange

If the fillet surface intersects with neighboring faces, there are two options to perform the operation:

with maintaining the flange;

with maintaining the surface.

To select the construction option, expand the Additional parameters  section. The edge controls are located in the Border group.

The group Border is present on the Parameters bar if the edge is rounded this way By Circular Arcor With coefficient.

If the Auto Determination option in the Flange group is turned on, when the fillet intersects with adjacent faces, the system keeps the edge shape for these faces everywhere it is possible. Where flanges cannot be kept, surfaces are kept.

If you turn the auto determination off, the Save Edge option appears.

If this option is on, the flange is kept on all edges of neighboring faces.

If the option is off, the fillet is constructed with keeping the surface (the edge shape of neighboring faces may be changed). Fillet examples with and without keeping the flange are shown on figures B and C.

Sometimes the mutual position of the filleted surfaces and the specified fillet radius do not allow to keep the flange. If at the same time the Save Edge option is turned on, then if you attempt to construct the fillet, the system will throw an error message.
