The Fillet command is used for rounding edges.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Specify an edge (edges) in the graphic area to construct a fillet. You can specify a face if you need to construct fillets on all its edges. The name of the selected object is displayed in the Objects field in the Main section of the Parameter Panel.

The command is not performed for edges formed by smoothly mated faces.

2.If you need to construct a fillet on multiple smoothly interconnected edges, enable the Along Tangent Edges option. After specifying one of the edges, the system will automatically determine the rest of edges to extend the fillet to.

After specifying the first edge, the graphic area displays the fillet phantom.

3.Using the Method group, select the method for designing the fillet. The following options are available:

By Circular Arc — the fillet profile is an arc of a circle with a given radius,

Variable radius — the fillet profile is an arc of a circle, the radius of which changes along the edge. More details about the Variable Radius Fillet...

By Elliptical arc – the fillet profile is an elliptical arc,

With coefficient – the fillet profile is a conical curve (depending on the value of the coefficient K of the conic curve, the profile can have the form of an ellipse, parabola, or hyperbola),

With constant chord – the fillet profile is a circular arc constructed on the given chord.

4.Set the fillet parameters according to the chosen method. For example, when making a fillet By Circular Arc you need to specify its radius. For more details on assigning parameters for different fillet construction methods...

5.If necessary, set the name of the fillet and its surface properties in the Properties section. More details on managing the color and optical properties...

6.To complete the operation, click Create Object .

After confirming completion of the operation, the fillet appears on the model edges and the corresponding icon .

7.To complete operation of the command, click Complete .

Tips

You can set the value of the fillet radius in the graphic area using the characteristic points (for characteristic points, see Defining Points of Objects).

You can set linear and angular parameters using the geometrical calculator.

You can assign tolerances to the values of the operation parameters expressed in linear values. To do this, invoke the Tolerance command located in the menu of the required parameter, or click the icon displayed in the parameter field (the icon is displayed if a tolerance is assigned to the parameter value).
