Description of setting

List of global bindings

The list allows to change the set of global snaps active in the document. For that, enable or disable the options matching to the respective names in the list.

Move Up

Move Down

Buttons are used to set up the priority of snaps.

If several global snaps are enabled, and with the current cursor position it is possible to run them all, then a snap of higher priority gets activated. The priority of a snap is determined by its position in the list.

To raise the priority of a snap, select it in the list and press the Move Up button, and to lower it – the Move Down button. The selected snap will move by one position in the specified direction.

All Snaps

The option allows to enable or disable all global snaps. It may be in one of three states:

enabled — all options in the list of snaps are enabled (all global snaps are active in the document),

undefined  — the list of bindings contains both enabled and disabled options (bindings with enabled options operate in the document, while those with disabled options do not),

disabled – all options in the list of bindings are disabled (global bindings in the document are not active).

If the state of the option is undefined, a click on the option will disable it, the next click will enable it.

Settings applicable to both global and local snaps

Snap to background layer objects

This option allows to perform a snap to objects lying in the background layers (see section Layer states) graphic document or sketch. In drawings, this option also enabled snap to background view objects.

Only to visible grid points

The option allows to use only the nodes of a grid while running the By Grid snap. It is available if the set of snaps active in the document includes the By Gridsnap – a matching respective option is enabled in the list of global snaps.

The enabled option means that the snap is applied only to grid nodes only if the grid is displayed on the screen. More details on using a grid...

With the option disabled, snap is possible to the grid points which became invisible as a result of resampling down. Enabling displaying of the grid is optional. More details on the grid at small scales...

Step of Angular Snap

The field allows to set a value, the angle of angular snap should change in multiples to it. For example, if the value of a step of angular snap is set equal to 15 °, then a snap to points located on the straight lines running through the last fixed point at the angles 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 90°, etc. will be possible.

Changes made to the step of angular snap take effect after restarting KOMPAS-3D.
