The status of the layer is determined by the values of the following properties:
•activity – controls availability of layer objects for editing and has two values:
•
active — all objects of the layer are available for performing editing and deleting operations; active layers can be compared to tracing paper, in which nothing new is added, but only corrections of previously created objects and movements of the tracing paper itself on the drafting table are made;
•
background — objects of the layer are not available for editing and deletion; if snapping to objects of background layers is enabled (see section Global and local snaps), you can snap to objects in background layers; background layers are similar to tracing paper fixed for basing new elements of the drawing or diagram on them;
•visibility – controls the display of objects of a layer in the graphic region of the document and has two values:
•
visible — layer objects are displayed in the graphic area, while active layers are shown in the colors selected for them, and background – with a set style;
•
Hidden — objects of a layer are not displayed in the graphic region regardless of whether they are active or background; therefore, the hidden layer is completely unavailable for any operations. Figuratively speaking, you can remove unnecessary tracing paper from the drawing board.
•print – controls the possibility of output of layer objects to print and takes values:
The style (type, thickness and color of lines) used to display objects of background layers can be set in the dialog for setting up the draw of views (see section Layers). The color with which the objects of an active layer are displayed is established for each layer in the Drawing tree (see section Changing the layer status).
