Loss of the source of copy objects |
Scroll |
In certain cases, source objects of the copy may be lost.
For example, when excluding from the calculation the objects used for copying, the copy created based on them is not excluded from the calculation. It remains included in the calculation, but becomes invalid. If the copy update option is Update Automatically, then the error attribute appears in the Design Tree immediately, but if it is Update by command and follow the source or Update by Command, then only after manual updating of the copy. For options of updates, see sections Updating a copy of geometric objects and How to configure the updating option.
A similar behavior is observed if the source objects of the copy are deleted.
To eliminate the error, you need to select other source objects to replace the lost ones. For objects excluded from the calculation, the error is also resolved by including the objects in the calculation.
If the copy and its source objects are in different files, then the loss of objects may occur due to the loss of their source file.
Loss of the copy objects source file
If the source of the copy objects is Selected file, a situation of losing this file may arise, for example, in the case of its renaming or movement. This breaks the association with the file.
For the update options of the copy Update automatically and Update by command and follow the source, the system checks for the presence of the source file. Therefore if the file is lost, an attribute of error appears in the Design Tree. If the copy updating option is Update by command, i. e. without checking the source file, then the attribute of error does not appear in the Tree.
When the source file is missing, you cannot update the copy either automatically or manually:
•for the Update automatically option, after rebuilding the model updating is not performed;
•For the option Update by command and follow the source — the command Update
is absent in the context menu;
•For the option Update by Command — the Update
command is present in the context menu, but after invoking the command, the update is not performed; an error message about the missing file is displayed on the screen.
To restore access to the file or specify another model as the source, perform the actions described below. The set of actions is identical for all update variants.
Procedure for restoring access to the source file or changing the source
1.Start editing of the copy. To that end, highlight it in the model Tree and call the Edit
command from the Edit menu or the context menu. The same controls will appear on the Parameter Toolbar as when creation Copies.
The Source File field will be red. It will still contain the path to the lost file.
The lines for the selected objects in the Objects field will also be highlighted in red. Instead of object names, the lines will contain the text The object is lost.
The CS list of the source is hidden. Also the list of collections is hidden (if collections were copied).
2.Click the name of the Source file field and specify the required file in the dialog that appears. The path to the file will appear in the field, and the red highlighting of the field will disappear.
If the selected file contains the copy source objects (the collection in case of copying the collection) and the source model coordinate system used to place the copy, then all the operation parameters will be automatically restored:
•the contents of the list of source objects will become as it was, the red highlighting of the list will disappear, and in case of copying of a collection, a list of collections will appear, where the source collection will be selected automatically,
•the list of Source CS will appear, with the coordinate system specified initially.
If the selected file does not contain appropriate objects, then you need to specify the new source objects (collection) and the CS to place the copy.
3.Complete editing of the copy by clicking the Create object
button.
