Creating a BOM based on data contained in the document |
Scroll |
After attaching document to BOM, in it, BOM items corresponding to the constituent parts of the product which the document is released for are created. BOM items are generated and displayed according to the following rules:
•the connected document and its related documents — these objects are located in section Documentation,
•components of the product for which the attached document has been issued — these objects are located in other parts of BOM.
The procedure for automatically creating BOM objects is described in detail below.
Automatically created BOM objects in the section «Documentation»
If the designation of a document being linked to a BOM contains a code (it must be specified in the designated field when entering the designation), a base object is created in the BOM to which this document is linked. This base object is placed in the Documentation section; if the section does not already exist, one is created. Thus, for example, an assembly drawing—it has the code SB—will be reflected in the Documentation section of the BOM created based on this drawing.
With the document attached to the BOM, there may be linked other documents. If there are any among them which designations contain code, then objects are also created for them in the Documentation section, as described above.
Features of automatic object creation in the Documentation section:
•If an associative assembly drawing is attached to a specification, then documents associated with this assembly are also added to the Documentation section (if the code is available).
•Only the documents and their codes that existed at the time of connection are considered. Any changes made later—adding codes, linking new documents to the specification connected to it, etc.—are not reflected in the Documentation section. If necessary, this can be done manually; see below.
In progress management of attached documents The Parameters panel displays the Documents section, which contains a table with a list of documents that can be added to the BOM Documentation section. Those that have already been added are marked with a dot in the first column of the table. If you want to add any other documents from the list to the Documentation section, select them and click the Add to "Documentation"
button.
The BOM objects generated in the Documentation section are practically no different from the objects created manually (the only difference is that the manually created objects have the groupping). Therefore, any of them can be edited or removed from the BOM — for example, if any of the documents was added by mistake or repeatedly.
In a group BOM, objects automatically created in the Documentation section belong to the implementation with which the corresponding documents were associated.
When a document is detached from a BOM, its corresponding Documentation section objects are not deleted. If necessary, they must be deleted manually.
|
Automatic creation of Documentation section objects occurs only in the BOM document — after a drawing or assembly is attached to it. These objects are not present in the drawing or assembly itself (in subordinate mode for working with BOM objects), despite the presence of information about linked documents. |
|
Automatic creation of objects in the Documentation section is performed if BOM editor setting the option Automatically create section «Documentation». It's enabled by default. Manually adding documents to the Documentation section (using the Add to Documentation section button on the Settings panel) is available regardless of the Automatically create "Documentation" section option. |
Automatically created BOM objects in other sections
BOM objects corresponding to the component parts of the product for which the document attached to the BOM has been issued are formed and displayed according to the following rules:
•The set of components, the data on which will be displayed in the BOM, is determined by two parameters of the component:
•inclusion flag in the BOM;
This feature is controlled by the Include in BOM option in the component properties and icon
/
on the Product composition panel; if inclusion in the specification for a component is disabled, then data about it will not appear in any BOM;
•display flag in the specification of a particular style
This feature is controlled by the option Apply in current BOM description in the settings of the BOM object in subordinate mode and icon
/
On the Product composition panel; if the display of a component in the current style's specification is disabled, then the data about it will not be displayed in the BOM with the style included in the current BOM description.
•The section of the BOM in which the object will end up is determined by the value of the BOM Section property of the corresponding component of the product (in fact, this property contains the section and subsection number, if there are subsections). The section of the BOM in which the object will be located is determined by the value of the BOM Section property of the corresponding component of the product (in fact, this property contains the section and subsection number, if any).
There is an exception to this rule: if a BOM has only one section, it displays data on all components of the product, regardless of the value of the BOM section property for these components.
•Which property of the component will be displayed in the BOM and in which column it will appear is determined by the BOM style (the property associated with the column is displayed in the Link with property list when column setting dialog).
•If a product contains several identical components, a BOM object is created for each of them, i.e. «twin-objects», which by default are displayed as a single line with the quantity indicated in the corresponding column.
BOM objects created in this manner cannot be deleted from the BOM (for example, by pressing the <Delete> key). To delete such an object, you must edit the document attached to the BOM, disabling the inclusion/display of a specific style in the specification for the component part, or deleting the component part itself. Editing of such objects is limited: only text formatting and line breaks are available.
