You can configure object properties for a part or assembly in the Object properties section of setting dialog box.
To access the section, call the command Settings — Parameters... 
and in the dialog box that appears, select Current document — Object properties.
The dialog allows you to specify names and colors of newly created model objects, as well as save the specified parameters in an xml file or load a file with existing settings.

Save to file |
The button allows you to save the specified settings in an xml file. After pressing the button, the File Write dialog box appears on the screen. Set the file location and name and click Save. |

Read from file |
The button allows to set parameters saved in xml file. After pressing the button, a dialog box for opening files appears on the screen. Specify the required file and click the Open button. |
Objects |
The list contains all types of model objects. Next to the name of the element the icon corresponding to it in the Construction Tree is shown. Above the list of objects there is a search field. Enter the desired symbols in it to start the search. After that only those objects with the specified symbols in their names will remain in the list. To display the full list of objects in the list again, delete all of them from the search field. To rename an object, select it and click on it with the mouse. The line will open for editing and you can enter the desired name. When you finish entering the name, press <Enter> to confirm it or click with the mouse in an empty place of the dialog box. The object names entered in this way will be displayed in the Construction Tree. |

The drop-down list allows you to specify the layer on which the newly created object of the specified type will be placed. The following options are available: •On the current layer — object will be placed on the current layer. •On the specified layer, number — object will be placed on the layer specified by the user. The layer number is entered in the field on the right. The layer number must not exceed the value 2 147 483 647. If after object creation it turns out that the layer with the specified number is absent in the model, it is created automatically. Layer selection is available for dimensions, notations, auxiliary objects, sketches, workpieces, some spatial curves and arrays. |

Methods to assign |
A drop-down list for selecting how to set the color of objects. The following options are available: •By source object — all objects of the specified type will be displayed with the color of the part (assembly). •Manually — objects of the specified type can be set to the desired color. The current color of the object is displayed in the Color field . To change the color, click in the field with the mouse. For objects that have edges, you can also customize optical properties. •By layer — objects of the specified type will be displayed in the color of the layer on which they are placed. |

All defaults |
Click this button if you want to restore the default settings for all object types. |
Having completed the settings, click the dialog box Apply and close. To exit the dialog without changing the settings, click the Cancel button.
