Some operations require specifying curves (3D curves, multi-segment curve segments, sketch lines), edges, or faces as reference objects.

For example, to construct an equidistant curve, you must specify its base curve, which can be a curve or an edge. To create an equidistant surface, you must specify a base surface, which can be a face.

Some reference objects can consist of multiple objects, either connected or not. For example, the section of an extrusion feature can be several unconnected curves, edges, and faces, while the path of a path feature is a chain of sequentially connected curves and edges.

Curves, edges, and faces can be specified both before and after the operation is started. For this, the following techniques are used: selecting object in the graphic area. Some objects, such as curves, are also specified in Design tree.

If a reference object can consist of multiple curves, edges, and/or faces, then during the operation, you can select either a single object or a group of objects that satisfy a certain condition. For example, you can select multiple curves and edges connected tangentially, or multiple faces belonging to a single body. To do this, you need to set a selection condition on the Quick Access Toolbar.

Selecting faces based on conditions

If several objects are selected at once with one instruction, they are combined into set.

When specifying curves and edges, you may need to select not entire curves/edges, but rather their segments, into which they are divided by points of intersection or tangency with other curves and edges. This option is available when specifying curves/edges during various operations.
