Curve of intersection

Scroll

In KOMPAS-3D, it is possible to build an intersection curve. Objects of intersection may be bodies, surfaces, separate  faces, planes, sketch planes, or sets of these objects. It's also available to build an intersection curve for polygonal objects intersecting with each other and with planes.

To build a curve of intersection of objects you use the Curve of intersection  command.

Step-by-step instructions

1.Specify the first intersection object. To do this, specify a solid/surface face or a plane in the graphic area or in the Design tree.
The specified objects are highlighted in the graphic area with a single color. Their names are displayed in the Set of surfaces 1 field of the Parameter panel.
If you need to find the intersection curve with all the faces of a solid/surface, specify the solid or surface. In this case, the name of the specified solid or surface will appear in the field Set of surfaces 1. Notes on specifying a solid/surface are the same as for specifying a sectioning object in the surface trimming operation. Details...

After specifying of the first object, the field for specifying the second object of intersection Set of surfaces 2 will be automatically activated. If the first set of surfaces must consist of several objects, reactivate the Set of surfaces 1  field and continue specifying the objects.

2.Specify the second intersecting object (or set of objects) in the same way as the first one. Names of the specified objects will appear in the Set of surfaces 2 field.

Auxiliary planes and sketch planes can be specified for any set of surfaces. However, if both sets contain only such objects, then building the intersection curve is impossible.

A phantom of the intersection curve will be displayed in the graphic area. The curve may consist of one or multiple continuous sections – counters.

3.Specify the counters for building if needed. Details...

4.You cat set the name, color and display parameters for intersection curve. To do that, use the Properties section.

5.To complete the operation, click the Create an object  button.

The curve of intersection will appear in the graphic area, and in the Design tree, there will be an object with an icon and subordinate objects corresponding to the number of contours in the curve.

6.To complete operation of the command, click the Finish  button.
