To plot a point of a 3D spline or broken line using By Coordinates, press the By Coordinates button in the Method button group.

You can set the position of the point as follows:

in the graphic area:

setting the point position using the mouse,

selecting a Point Object,

on the Parameter Panel using the controls from the Vertex Design group:

entering the point coordinates,

constructing a special point (using the Create Point  button, position a point next to the Snap Point field).

You can also import points coordinate from a file. Details...

Setting the point position using the mouse

When you select a point in the graphic area with the mouse, the point coordinates are entered into the point parameters table.

You can use this plotting method together with entering point coordinates on the Parameter Toolbar (see below). This way, you should freeze one or two coordinates and then select a point with the mouse.

To change the position of a point with the mouse, select the corresponding row in the table or select this point in the graphic area (you can select the point in the graphic area if the edit mode). The point number In the graphic area will be highlighted. Then drag the point using the mouse.

Entering the point coordinates

To enter the coordinates of a point, use the Coordinates field in the Vertex Design group of controls on the Parameter Panel.

This field consists of three sections for entering the X, Y, and Z coordinates. The current value of a coordinate is marked with a point, while the fixed value is marked with the .

To fix the value of the coordinate, you can use the following methods:

click the icon on the left side of the field,

press <Enter> when the cursor is in the coordinate value input field.

After all the coordinates of the point are fixed, this point appears in the graphic area, a row with its parameters is added to the point parameters table, and the field for entering coordinates is unfixed. The system waits for the coordinates of the next point to be entered.

You can use this plotting method together with setting the points with the mouse (see above). In this case, one or two coordinates of the point are fixed, and then the point is indicated by the mouse.

To change the coordinates of a point, please select the corresponding row in the table or select this point in the graphic area (you can select the point in the graphic area if the Pipeline editing). The coordinates of the selected point will be displayed in the Coordinates field. Edit the values of coordinates.

Selection of the Point Object

To define the position of a spline or broken line point by the point object, please select this object in the graphic area of the model or in the Design Tree.

A new point of the spline (broken line) will appear in the graphic area, and its parameters will appear in the point parameters table.

An associative link is automatically created between the selected point object and the spline (broken line) point. It is marked with a check mark in the point parameters table. When you select a point for editing, the name of the linked model object will be displayed in the Snap Point field of the Vertex Design group of controls. You can select another object if needed.

If you want for the spline (broken line) point to coincide with the selected point object but not to be linked with it, please disable the associative link. In this case, the spline (broken line) point will remain in the same position when a point object is moved.

More details on the associative link and its deactivation...

When you plot a spline by poles, the link is applied to the selected point objects and to the vertices of the characteristic broken line of the spline.
