In graphic documents of KOMPAS-3D, the following objects are numbered automatically:
•Tables, including tables of versions,
•reports, including reports on arrays with a table of editable variables,
•modification designations,
•view arrows,
•leader elements,
•lines of cut/cross-section (for mechanical engineering),
•bases,
•leader lines,
•dimensions (except the height).
With the automatic numeration, objects of specified types are placed into numeration groups (the number of objects in each group is no more than 2 147 483 647). To work with numbering groups, use the Numbering.
Each object can be part of one numeration group only. The number of an object is the link to its number in a group.
A numeration group integrates objects having common numeration parameters determined the setup of the group. Numbers of group objects can’t repeat.
Within one document, it is possible to use several groups of automatic numeration of objects — system and user-defined.
System groups are created in a document by default. The name of a system group starts with the # character. You can’t add or delete a system group, nor change its name.
User groups are added and deleted by the user during work with the document. The name of a group is set arbitrarily and is editable.
By default, there are three system groups in a document: #Auto sorting, #Numbering of change designations, #Numbering of tables.
The #Numeration of designation changes, #Numeration of tables groups, as well as user-defined groups are used for automatic assignment of numbers to objects. Numbers of objects of these groups may be represented by numbers from 1 to 2 147 483 647, or by any arbitrarily set characters.
The #Auto-sorting group is intended for auto-sorting of alphabetical designations of objects. Only letters are used as the numbers of objects in this group. The order and specific features of auto-sorting are described in section Auto-sorting of alphabetical designations of objects.
Parameters of object numeration in each group (both system, and user-defined) can be configured.

To set up parameters of all the other system groups, use the Numbering system group parameters. To create/delete user-defined groups, as well as to set up their parameters, the Parameters of custom numbering groups.
Objects can be added into numeration groups manually or automatically during creation/editing of these objects. To learn about adding items to numbering groups, see section Adding an object into a numeration group.
