Assigning values to properties created from variables

Scroll

A property of a model created from a variable receives the value of this variable. To learn about creating properties from variables, see section Properties Created on the Basis of Variables.

You can change the property value using the methods provided for document properties. For this purpose you can use the Parameter Toolbar controls (see section Working with properties on the Parameters Panel) or the Property Editor (see section Property Editor).

Note that a property value can only be edited if the value of the variable from which the property was created is set as a number. If the value is set as a constant, expression or link to an external file variable, then it cannot be changed. Values of properties created from information variables or from variables to which the Read Only constraint is applied cannot be changed either.

The value of the property created from the parameter variable Exclude from calculation is changed by enabling/disabling the option (for variables excluding objects from calculation, see section Variables for excluding objects from calculation).

If a variable of an operation parameter whose value is expressed in linear or angular values or a variable of a sketch control dimension is used to create a property, then during work with such a property in the Parameter Toolbar or in the Property Editor you can assign/change a tolerance to the corresponding parameter value or a dimension tolerance.

To assign/change a tolerance, use the Value and Tolerance dialog box. This dialog box is opened with the Assign Tolerance command in the context menu of the cell with the property value located in the Parameter Panel or in the Property Editor.

Dialog Value and tolerance is described in the section Viewing and assigning tolerances of variables.

After editing the property value, the value of the respective variable is automatically changed and as a result the model is rebuilt.
