When working with all arrays except mirrored arrays and arrays by sample, you can control form and dimensions of instances by changing sketch dimensions values and instance operations dimensions values.

Dimensions of sketches and instance operations correspond to similar dimensions of the object being copied.

Changing dimensions is available if the array is built for objects of following types:

Operations (except for constructing a geometrical array),

Curves, points, construction geometry.

Step-by-step instructions

1.When creating or editing an array, expand the Instance parameters section on the appears on the Parameter Panel and move the Show Dimensions toggle switch to I (enabled) position.

Fields for choosing an instance and objects that belong to this instance appear in the section.

2.In the Instances field specify an instance whose geometry you need to change. This field contains list of all array instances except the base array (displaying and changing base instance dimensions is not available).

3.In the Objects field specify an object of the selected instance whose dimensions you need to change. Dimensions of this object appear in graphic region of the model.

4.Change the relevant dimensions.

To change a dimension, double-click its value in the graphic region and set the new value in the Set dimension value dialog.

Array instance geometry changes. Variables of edited dimensions will be added to the Table of modifiable variables array If the table doesn't exist, then it will be created automatically.

5.For an array by table you can change not only geometry but also instance positions. To do this, use instance position dimensions which are created when specifying coordinates of points that determine positions. Variables of these dimensions are added to the Variables toolbar.

Editing position dimensions is available only when manual specifying of coordinates. If coordinates are Retrieved from filePosition dimensions cannot be displayed in the graphic region and cannot be edited.

To display dimensions of necessary instance position in the graphic region, select this instance in the Instances field (you do not need to select objects that belong to this instance).

Specify required dimension values. Instance position changes.

Changing positions for position dimensions is performed similar to sketch and operation dimensions (see above).

6.If needed, you can change or delete dimension tolerance.

By default sketch and instance operation dimension tolerances are the same as tolerances of corresponding dimensions of the object being copied, while positions of array by table instances have general tolerances.

You can change and remove tolerances when changing the dimension value in the Set dimension value dialog. For this purpose use the button Assign permission .

You can manage geometry and positions of array instances using derivative dimensions. These dimensions can be created for the entire array, for an array instance or for particular objects within an array instance.

The same parameters — geometry and positions of instances — can be changed in the Variables toolbar.

Creation of derivative dimensions and changing values on the Variables Toolbar is made after the array creation.
