KOMPAS-3D is a Windows application and utilizes all the capabilities of this operating system for working with output devices (printers and plotters).
You can print documents from the main window. This way, you can print:
•the entire document (except for multi-sheet documents with sheets of different dimensions),
•the highlighted part of the document,
•the current sheet or the selected sheet of a multi-sheet document.
For more details on printing from the main window, see the section Printing from the main window.
You can also print documents from the preview window. This way, you can use additional features, including the following:
•printing multi-sheet documents with sheets of different dimensions,
•printing several documents of different types at the same time (e. g. a drawing and a model),
•various methods of the sheets detailing in the print field,
•printing only the selected area of a sheet,
•auto-fitting the print scale,
•setting arbitrary print scale for any sheet.
You cannot edit documents in the preview mode.
For more details on printing from the preview window, see the section Print Preview.
Using the Special print feature, you can use virtual printers to output documents to PDF and XPS formats as well as output the documents to printing devices with the ability to print multi-sheet documents with sheets of different dimensions. For more details on special printing, see the section Special print.
Sometimes you may need to print documents with the same settings. In these cases it makes sense to use print jobs (see the section Print job) and printing device configurations (see the section Printing device configurations).
By default, for printing all types of documents in KOMPAS-3D a single print device is used — the one selected as the default in Windows.
You can set different default devices for different types of documents if needed. To do that, select the configurations of the printing devices in the general print settings dialog box (see the section General settings).
