System properties are properties which are always present in the document and available for use in it, for example, Designation, Name, Mass, etc.

Values of some system properties are determined automatically based on the data received by the system from working with a particular object. Other values are set manually by the user: on the Parameter Toolbar, in the Property Editor and in other ways. When working with a drawing, some properties, for example Designation, Name, Material, etc. can be set in the Title block of the drawing.

An asterisk (*) marks properties whose values can be set in the Property Editor (see section Property Editor).

Some properties can obtain a value by reference.

Designation*

A property value is set in a special toolbar or dialog box where a separate field is provided for each part of the designation. More details on setting the designation...

In a drawing, the value can be set in the title block.

In certain cases you can select designation of a document or of objects included in it from the external reference (ESKD Classifier). To do this, use the Select symbol from reference button . The reference should be connected to the <{%PRODUCT_NAME%}> system.

Name*

The value is set manually. In a drawing, the value can be set in the title block.

Product name*

The value is set manually. This property is intended for entering the name of the product itself and is used if the Name property should, in addition to this name, contain other information. For example, the name of a part that does not have a drawing also includes the designation of the material and other necessary data for manufacturing. In this case, the product name should be set in the property Product Name and a reference to it should be inserted in the value of the property Name. If Name should not include additional data, then the product name should be set in it.

Quantity*

By default this property is assigned the value 1. This value may be set to arbitrary number, if needed.

Mass

In graphic documents this value is specified manually. In a drawing, the value can be set in the title block. By default, properties of an associative drawing display the mass specified in the model based on which its view was created.

The mass value of a model or its portion is calculated during mass properties calculation or is set manually on the MP Parameters tab of the parameters panel (see section Material and CMP properties). It will be automatically transferred into the list of the document properties.

Material*, Substitute material*, Coating*, Density*

In a graphic document these values are specified in the Properties tab of the Parameter Panel. Manual entry or selection from references is available. In a drawing, a material can also be specified in the title block.

In a model, a material is selected from a reference, whereas density, substitute materials and coverages can be selected from a reference or entered manually. You can specify a material for a model or its portion in the Properties tab or in the MP Parameters tab of the Property Panel. When you select a material, its designation, density and hatch style are transferred to the list of the document properties.

To select a material, substitute material and coverage, you can use the following buttons:

Select a material from the list — material is selected from the density reference file (...\\ASCON\\KOMPAS-3D V...\\Sys\\Graphic.dns file; the contents of the file can be edited by the user),

Select material from the reference — the material is selected from an external reference (the reference must be connected to the KOMPAS-3D system).

In the KOMPAS-3D system, there are ten properties Substitute material and ten properties Coverage. It means that in the same document you can select ten different substitute materials and assign up to ten kinds of coverage.

Unspecified Surface Finish Sign*, Unspecified Surface Finish Parameter*

In a graphic document, these parameters can be set using the Appearance — Unspecified Roughness — Set/Modify command, and in the model using the Appearance — Unspecified Roughness command.

Author*, Organization*, Comment*

The initial values of these properties in the current document coincide with values set in a document template. They can be changed if needed.

The Author and Designed by properties are not linked to each other and may have different values.

Object Type

The type to which a document or an object belongs: Drawing, View Insertion, Fragment Insertion, Fragment, Macro-element, Assembly Unit, Part, Standard Item, Component from Library or Solid, is automatically determined by the system.

Position*

Object reference number. If you want this number to be displayed on the landing of the positioning leader set to the object, this leader must be included in BOM object, connected to the object. Reference numbers set in the assembly will be automatically included in BOM objects corresponding to components.

File Name, Full File Name

Properties show the file name and the full path to the document or object file. If an object has no file (for example, a solid or a graphic macro-element), the path to the current document is entered into the property value.

Created, Latest Modification

Dates of a file creation and latest modification are filled in automatically.

BOM Section*

A property showing the BOM section name of an object which is part of the document. Its value can be specified in the object source file. Details...

Developed By*, Checked By*, Approved By*, In–Process Inspection*, Compliance Assessment*, Signed*

Values are specified manually. In a drawing, values can be specified in the title block.

The values specified in a model document are transferred to properties of the drawing created based on this model (see section Properties of a model, component, solid in an associative drawing).

Precision class

Its value shows the precision class selected upon the model creation (see section General tolerances).

This value is specified manually in a graphic document.

Dissect at cuts

Its value determines the way the model will be displayed in cuts/sections of an associative drawing.

By default, the property value is set to Yes (dissect). The No value (Do not dissect) is selected by the user from a drop–down list in the Value cell. Details on setting the value...

Work Type*

Type of work performed by the person who signs the document.

Letter*

Standard designation of the design documentation development stage.

Number of Pages, Sheet formats

Determined automatically.

Part Number*

Production code according to the All-Russian Product Classifier.
