Selection of objects to copy |
Scroll |
As objects for copying, you can specify arbitrary objects or ready-made collection of objects — the necessary option is set using the Copy toggle switch. The order of specifying objects for each option is detailed below.
|
If you need to copy assembly objects to the model which will subsequently be inserted in the same assembly as a component, we recommend setting manual updates for the resulting copy. For more details on updating copies of geometric objects... |
Arbitrary selection of objects
Objects to be copied can be specified both in the current document and in the file of another model. All the objects should be contained in the same document.
The following model objects can be specified:
•solids and surfaces — available in all cases except simple selection in the graphic area with a mouse (to select a solid or a surface using the mouse, enable the corresponding filter),
•faces,
•edges,
•vertices,
•3D curves and points (including control and attachment points),
•constructive axes and planes,
•coordinate systems,
•curves in sketches and entire sketches.
|
The use of curves with subordinate curve objects (projection curve, intersection curve, etc.) has its specifics. Details... |
Create the set of copied objects in the following way.
•When copying from the current document, specify the objects in the window of the current model.
•When copying from the selected file, specify the objects in the source model window.
When specifying objects, note the following.
•To select an entire object, specify it in the Design Tree. If you need to select not the entire object but one of its elements (for example, a curve in the sketch rather than the whole sketch), specify this element in the graphic area.
•When specifying an operation in the Design Tree, it is not the operation itself but all the faces of the solid/surface constructed by this operation that are added to the list of copied objects. For example, when you specify the extrusion operation, all the faces of the extrusion element are added to the list of copied objects.
•You can select objects of the current model to be copied either before or after the command is run. If you want to create a copy of objects of another model, you can select objects only after the command is run.
|
To select objects of certain types in the graphic area and in the source model window, it's convenient to use filters. Besides, you can select objects by a marquee (see section Select by Marquee) and with special commands for selection by frame. |
The specified objects are highlighted, and their names are added to the Objects field of the Parameters toolbar panel.
Selecting a collection of objects
For copying purposes, you can use a collection of objects, already created in the model. Select the desired collection from the Collection list.
The list of collections is displayed on the Parameter Panel after setting the Copy toggle switch to Collection position. The list contains all the collections included in the copy source model. If the document selected for copying contains no collections, the list is not displayed on the Parameter Toolbar.
