General information about editing model objects

Scroll

When editing a model, you can change various parameters of its constituent objects. You can change object parameters in two ways: start the object editing process (in this case, all object parameters are available for editing) or select an object and change some of its parameters. More information about modes of changing objects...

When switching to the object editing process the operation creating the object will be launched. The procedure of parameters changing is similar to the parameters setting procedure. Features of changing parameters in the process of editing an object...

Certain parameters of objects can be changed without launching the editing process. Details...

Numerical parameters of objects can be controlled by changing the values of the corresponding variables or the dimensions of operations.

Please note that in the current model it is possible to edit only the objects that are directly included in the model. Therefore, direct editing of objects belonging to the components of the model is impossible. To edit the objects of a component, either open it in a separate window (see section Editing Component Geometry in a Separate Tab), or enable in-place editing of a component (see section Editing the Component Geometry "In Place"). After that, you can use any techniques for editing objects.

When editing the model objects, the hierarchical links between them are preserved, i.e. after changing an object there’s no need to re-define the sequence of building subordinate objects and their parameters.

In some cases the model rebuilds automatically. For example, after changing the shape of a contour in a sketch, the shape of the bump element based on it changes immediately. In other cases, for example, when changing the values of variables, to rebuild the model you need to call a special command, see section Rebuilding a Model.

Changes made to the model during editing will be transferred to all models containing it as a component.
