As a blank for building a model, you can use a previously created model – a part or assembly. It is inserted into the current model as a Blank parts and is refined using various commands. This modeling technique is used if the new model is slightly different from the existing one and the existing model can be used as a blank in the manufacture of a new model.
To insert a blank part, use the Add blank part
command.
In general, the insertion of the part-blank into the model is performed similarly inserting components. The difference lies in the fact that the insertion of the workpiece is possible in two versions:
•external reference,
•in the form of a local part.

Reflection of a blank in the BOM and in the drawing
For the use of the blank to be reflected in the BOM and the drawing, it is necessary to enable the accounting for the blank in the BOM. The blank used in a model is reflected:
•In an associative drawing of a model with a workpiece: the text «Workpiece-Product ...XXXXXX...» is automatically entered into the Material field of the normal caption, where ...XXXXXX... — blank designation; if the designation in the blank file is not set, then its name is used;
•In the assembly BOM containing a model with a blank as a component, the BOM item corresponding to this component is automatically added. object-blank with data from the blank and component files.

The reflection of the blank in the drawing of the model is possible only if the model is a part (*.m3d). In assembly drawings, the Material field is not filled. |

If a blank is inserted into an assembly (*.a3d), then — provided that the blank accounting in the BOM is enabled — it is displayed in the BOM of this assembly as a regular component. |
